Look-at-the-virus bug

Postby chemman » Fri Aug 27, 2004 5:03 pm

Once I look at the viruses (the red textures on the surface), the controls start spinning, and the framerate drops dramatically. Even though I am not touching anything, the screen starts spinning. A bug, if you ask me.

I was not able to reproduce this, either.

To do so though, would be to send a squad at the second island and look at the viruses. The camera in the game world would start spinning and moving violently.

This is just an effect of looking directly down with the camera I think - It tends to jump around when you try and move any direction except up whie the camera is facing straight down.

I was able to reproduce this after all!

So, I was running my troops in groups and blasting random things, when I see a big while blob, made of multiple viruses. When I looked at that blob, I immediatly stopped inputting any data. Then, I have taken a few screens to ilustrate the movement. Every screenshot is practically the next rame when the camera was flying. The line left by the *immobile* cursor ilustrates the movement of the camera.

I'm running in 640x480 because it is so horribly slow, 16 fps under that res!

edit: Now it works right.

You might need to put in the URL's mate, not just the filenames.
