It cannot be done from the command line, but you can edit the preferences file by hand to get the desired effect. Find preferences.txt (its location varies with OS, but there are stickies in the troubleshooting forum that should help), and edit the following line:

Code: Select all

SoundMasterVolume = 255

The number can range from 0 to 255, with 255 being full volume and 0 being no sound. A value of 195 will reduce the volume quite a bit, and anything below 128 will be basically mute.

EDIT: NeatNit: if you have nothing productive to say, DON'T POST.

We are here to serve. However, it is generally considered bad etiquette around here to bump old posts only to say thank you. Unless you have something really new or interesting to add to the conversation, we would be just as happy to let you keep your thanks to yourself. It is not that we don't appreciate your gratitude, only that it is generally not polite to bump old topics.
