Removing in-game profiles?

Postby SamHenderson » Tue Jan 06, 2009 3:57 pm

This may seem like an irregular request but here goes...

Is it possible to remove in game profiles ? There are a couple of (distastefully named) profiles that some friends have made and I would like to remove them, preferably without having to reinstall the game as I have already beaten it.

I didn't see an option in the game menu for removing a profile, only loading different profiles. I tried looking in main.dat to see if profiles were stored in there somewhere but apparently they are not...

Any suggestions (aside from punching my idiot friends  )

Edit:

I tried using the search function of the forums but I didn't find anything

The exact location of the profile directory varies from OS to OS, and, as I am a Mac user, I am not sure that I can tell you exactly where to look. However, there should be a directory associated with Darwinia called "users/". This directory should contain one subdirectory for each profile that you have. Simply delete or rename the directory of the profile, and it will be deleted/renamed as far as Darwinia is concerned. I think these are the correct locations:

Mac OS X: ~/Library/Application Support/Darwinia/full/users/
Windows (non-Steam): Darwinia\users\
Linux: ~/.darwinia/users

I haven't a clue where Steam keeps its files. However, if you were to search your hard drive for the profile names, you would probably find what you are looking for (if that doesn't work, try searching hidden directories, as well).

Yeah, I got the Steam bundle of Darwinia and Multiwinia, I'm going to guess that it could be in the Darwinia GCF archive in the Steam folder somewhere.

I'll definitely post again when I find out for the sake of completeness.

Which Windows do you have?

I can only vouch where Steam on Windows Vista puts the files...

C:\Users\(username)\Saved Games\Darwinia\users\

For other versions of Windows with the Steam Version I can only guess...
(applies for default steam install)

C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\(username)\darwinia\
(again unsure but this is where Darwinia is installed)
If nothing like a users or mods folder exists then check here...
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\darwinia\

I'm using Vista as well. Hopefully I'll be able to tinker with getting the data files into linux and running it from there too.

Edit: This http://forums.introversion.co.uk/darwin ... php?t=4259 would have certainly helped  Ah well.
