Swimming Officers - Possible Bug.

Postby tnosrac » Wed Dec 31, 2008 6:56 am

While playing the second demo version of Darwinia, I've noticed a possible bug in the game, involving officers that appear to be swimming.
This picture shows an officer that must have swum, as he originated on the big island on the right (In the demo, this is the one with the rocket on)

Another Officer appears to be in the water, gliding across. He was made by promoting a normal Darwinian, who was in the water about to drown. The island seen here is the one that the demo game starts on. I promoted the one on the bottom right of this peninsula.

Here he is , sliding along the water.

And again.

Here he is , back on land, Near the 1st set of solar panels that you occupy.

As far as I can see, this is yet to be reported by anyone, and I'm wondering if this is a bug or not?[/img]

Last I checked, that is a bug.
You can do a similar thing with squads on the earlier versions, because they had no control that said something like "squaddie in deep water" end of line, but now in the newer versions, they die... Anyways, yes it is a bug, and you're right, it hasn't been reported...

I did manage to do the squad thing as well, yet they remained under my control, even though they were a long way off shore, I could still throw grenades and shoot lasers, and the like.

I know they can still be controlled, but the weird thing is no matter what you do, the squad won't animate while swimming, they won't turn, excpet whatever direction their headed to, they will even shoot without turning...

Ironically, a burning darwinian in the water won't burn up or drown. This might be a problem some people are having in levels where all of the darwinians need to be dead, but it is unlikely because you can hear their screams from a mile away.

There is no level where all of the enemy need to be dead. If you can get the number under 10, you win. If you have more than 10 enemy DGs floating about, that might be a concern, but I don't think that is likely to happen.
