Civil war broke my game :(
I installed civil war, went through all the talking and started the first mission and left the game. The next time i went to play it, it insisted on telling me the whole story again so i pressed enter to skip it but then darwinia crashed. Now everytime i run the game it crashes..

I tried replacing the mod and it doesn't change. I can run and play other mods ok, it's just when it tries to explain the story it crashes. I'll restart and see if that does anything.
*later* that didn't work. When i go to frontline3(?) it explains and when the screen goes black to go to the next scene it crashes. it also crashes if i try the other levels.

Ok, this is weird, what version of darwinia are you running?
I'll go and see if they break my version.
And if you want to fix darwinia go to your preferences file and change the line to
Ok, there is a screensaver file in there which was testries bit, I have no idea what that's all about, you should probably delete that stuff and use it like a normal mod

there is no way in which a mod can permanently break the game. Especially if the mod files are all deleted! If something is wrong at this point you should probably take it to the Windows support forums as this is a genuine bug

Did you try deleting your preferences, as KingAl suggested? There is no way for a mod to completely break the game. There are a few half -assed mods out there that will crash, and cause problems, but none of those problems are permanent. Delete your preferences file, start up Darwinia, and you will find everything returned to factory settings. All of your profiles will still be intact, and any mods that you might have installed will still be present, though inactive. You can get to profiles through the Profile menu of the Main menu.
