That is one of several bootloaders, designed to introduce the game a bit. It is discussed in several places, which you could have found by using the Image Search link at the top of the forums.

Even Valve fell for it.

No really, the Darwinia release on Steam was delayed by a bit because they thought security had been bypassed. I can't imagine the phone call Introversion would have received at, what, 1am?

Wow... that was just amazing. I mean, first off, your post is almost completely unintelligible. Moreover, not only did you bump a long dead topic with useless spam, but you seem to be proud of that fact! You, sir, are a grade A, FDA approved moron.

I'm guessing that you're saying that the 'DMA Crew' screen only appears in cracked versions of the game. As indicated in the posts preceding your own, this is incorrect.

I laughed so loud as this crack screen appears.

I really like these C64-fools.

Sorry on bumping up an older topic, but I just got this screen as well. It really made the game feel almost personal since it added a level of "breaking the 4th wall". In the first 10 seconds, my first thoughts was honestly in question if my steam purchase was legit but that quickly sub-sided when listening to the music in all of it's 8-bit glory.

Adding that screen as a boot-loader was a perfect touch for this digital dream. :3

Oh man, I love all the bootloaders, especially the music in them.

Is there a way to extract the bootloader music from the game data? I've only looked at main.dat so far and I was looking for something else at the time. (I'd check now but I'm at work)
