Anyway off to playing Darwinia in it's full glory on Vista, finally and thanks Introversion!

Actually, I enjoyed playing with an Xbox controller. It's not as efficient as the mouse obviously, but it can be quite fun to play with the squads.

Wow, this sentence makes perfect sense, but it took me a measurable amount of time to decipher and absorb every nuance of its meaning and wisdom.
Anyway folks, the patch is installed but proclaims itself demo version immediately. So, still no fun for me.

Actually, the redownloaded patch file finished installing the moment you replied to the thread. I checked this thread first, posted my whining, visited the "official" thread, saw the solution and was right about to edit my last post to reflect the changes this second.

The patch works on non Vista Windows too. Then why not update Windows 1.42 to 1.5 too? Is it because people might prefer OpenGL?

I'm sorry fred, but you'll never get a straight yes or no answer out of me I am planning a political career

Then again I'm not going to be a politician, so that's ok.

I basically meant that I didn't find it fun, but I suck on xbox controllers, so if he is good at xbox controllers he may enjoy it.

I'm trying to get used to the controller as the cursor has acted funny since the patch. Did anyone's framerate drop even with the pixel effects off?
