Debug Camera?

Postby Testrie » Sun Aug 27, 2006 7:00 am

Yes, I am aware that there are many, many posts on this topic, but if I replied to them, I would be accused of reviving a thread, which... um... everyone hates...

So basically my question (which I haven't really seen anwsered) is, what exactly is the debug camera?

The debug camera was in a previous version, and was mostly removed. You can play around a bit on the global map by hitting esc to pull up the menu, then using WASD to move the camera around, and the mouse to change angles - that's basically what the camera allowed you to do.

It was removed when its hotkey was reassigned during creation of the Icon system.

If you need a more detailed explanation, or a rant on why it should be put back into the game, then xander's sure to pipe in with a follow-up post in 3, 2, .....

Probably spending time with his woman. We're not all little white letters that live inside your computer you know; at least three or four of us have lives. ;D

Actually, we went away to Fresno for the weekend. Why Fresno, you ask? Well, my grandmother lives there. My younger sister, who is a bit of a nomad, had decided that she needs a car. My grandmother, who is rather old, gave up her driver's license, and offered my sister her car. My sister flew into town on Friday, and we drove down to Fresno yesterday morning (by way of Yosemite National Park). It was a fun little trip. Yay!

As to the question about the debug cam:

The debug camera was one of two camera modes. In the "normal" camera mode, the camera focuses on the mouse cursor. If the cursor moved, then the camera swiveled to follow it. In debug mode, the camera does not follow the cursor. Instead, it stays fixed. To move the camera, WASDQE can be used (basically as normal), and you can right-click to swivel the camera. Shift slows the camera (rather than speeds it up), and right-click speeds the camera. The debug camera used to be available via a keyboard shortcut, and is the default camera in the mod editor.
