Failproof solution for darwinia crash with Intel Chipset

Postby Guacharo » Tue Jun 20, 2006 3:07 pm

After hours and hours of research, I have finally make it work...Darwinia crash on my Dell laptop inmediately after you choose any location. The problem was related to my Intel Xtreme integrated video card. So here is the step by step solution:

FIRST: Look for this Intel Utility: INF Update Utility [INFINST_AUTOL.EXE]

without it, even if you upgrade your video drivers, the computer won't use it for different games and apps...

SECOND: Upgrade your video drivers Graphics Driver [WIN2K_XP1420.EXE]

In my case I had the upgraded driver first and later I found the Update utility and it works for me. But in the troubleshooting Intel's guide this is the preferred method. For more detailed information visit: http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/cs-010475.htm

Make sure (obviously) that you are using the latest Directx 9 software and finally the big trick:

Edit the preferences.txt file and add the following line in the Render's block: RenderLandscapeMode = 0
