Darwinia Wins IGF Awards!

Postby Leonaken » Thu Mar 23, 2006 7:43 am

Tonight, at the 6th Annual Independent Games Festival, the sponsers got more thanks than developers, but that's besides the point. Darwinia won the following awards, which they accepted in person.

  • Technical Excellence
  • Innovation in Visual Arts
  • Seumas McNally Grand Prize

Fixed it up, it won Innovation in Visual Arts, not Game Design, and "Independent Game of the Year" is what they call the "Seumas McNally Grand Prize", Tomato Tomah-to.

Congradulations, guys![/list]

Congrats guys. Great speeches. "We didn't want any publishers fucking with our game..." stunned silence and round of applause from audience :D

(but no love for the beta testers? :P ;))

By the way, where'd you get those business cards made? One of my colleages, Drew Sikora, got one from Mark and everyone he shows it to is highly impressed. I want one :D

Go IV, go IV, go IV, go go, go IV!

I had hoped they would get Independent Game of the Year , and I thought that Technical Excellence was a possibility; the Innovation in Game Design really takes it all!

I'm recalling this from memory, so #2 might be wrong. This hasn't been announced online yet, so I'll have to fix this.

Braid won the Innovation in Game Design, according to Gamasutra.

Either way, WELL DONE Iv!

Yeah, IV got Innovation In Visual Arts not Innovation is Game Design. However I sort of like that better. In any event well done IV. :)

I hope this compromises the loss of money caused by 'where can I download full version of Darwinia for free?' people. :D

P.S. I have also played the previous year's grand winner: Gish. This game rocks, too.

I must agree. I played it, but never really understood the appeal...
