If it is not working, download & install the latest DirectX runtime and the .NET 2.0 framework.

Try installing the latest DirectX runtime and check if the following folder exists-
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\DirectX for Managed Code\1.0.2908\

If not, I will compile a version for you using 1.0.2902 as Direct3DX is loaded after Direct3D, so I think you have the 1.0.2902 version.

I have 2 folders in there.

1.0.2902.0
+
1.0.2907.0

the framework is at v2.0.50727

Checked on windows update for newer versions and theres nothing available. Now i'm sure you can point me at an updated installation, but 90% of people will likely be at the versions i'm on, so recompiling with 1.0.2902.0 files will be the best option i think...

I could not get it to compile with 1.0.2902, so I compiled it with 1.0.2907.

2.0.50727 is the DirectX 10 version, currently only software rendering unless you have a DirectX 10 capable card.

New version works. Got a whopping 7fps :)
Theres so much you could do with this. Like stop the camera at the ground, or a little above ground. Same with the sky, rather than move the sky up. Add a field of view, so the map edges are not drawn when a certain distance away, then maps can be bigger with no slowdown.

Anyway, looks cool. You should develop it further.

7 fps?! What graphics card? I'm using quadtrees for visibility, so if you look straight down, or away towards and edge, the fps should go up.

Also, there is a crappy looking tree right under where the camera starts.

I've included the source, so if anyone wants to continue this, they can go ahead.

GeForce FX5700 256mb - Forceware 81.98

Its a rock solid 7fps too. I can zoom out from the map so that the entire map and sky are in view, and its 7fps. I can turn the camera away from the map so that all i can see is black, and its 7fps.

It runs in a window on my desktop which is set to 1280*800. I guess dropping my desktop res, or forcing fullscreen mode may improve fps ?

Are there any options built in ? All i know is the mouse can look round and WASD moves camera.
