Darwinia marketing effort, you can help!
Ok, first, read up on Viral marketing, Undercover marketing and Guerrilla marketing.
Now let me give my idea:
I've seen it before in a few other stores in the UK that carry Darwinia. It is buried on the lower shelves, below half a ton of other games that "wont' sell".
This needs to be stopped.
The idea is simple. You walk into any store that should stock Darwinia, and you find all the copies of it. You then put them up on the shelves. Ignore the staff, ignore everyone, and get Darwinia to be noticed.
If you work at a place that stocks Darwinia, try use your worker power to put it somewhere noticeable, such as the front window or similar.
The general idea is to make it obvious that Darwinia is there so that it sales more.
If you've got a mobile phone with a camera on it, or even a real camera, take a picture of your efforts once done. Then, post the picture here for us to see, so we can gain more ideas on how to really push Darwinia out there.
If we do it right, then Darwinia will sale really well, but it is up to us to really go out there and do it.
If you need to justify your action to anyone (staff at the store, security, etc), just say that the Darwinians need your help, and even try sell a copy to the people asking...

Ahahaha... I was gonna dress up as a squaddie.
Anyway, if anyone looks at Froogle.com (google's shopping) you have something else called Darwinia. It's a book.
See here

I also wanted to ask how people in the U.S could help...

All you have to do is get as may stores in the US to start stocking Darwinia. Write to the head offices of your large game retailer stores, etc. Also, try open the darwinia homepage on every computer you can in large computer stores
Think of creative ways to get people to notice Darwinia. The pictures of your actions are what will make this fun for all of us, and the increased sales will mean that IV will continue to be here for <the next game>

Good work NeoThermic - thats the spirit we're looking for Things have definitly been going well the past couple of weeks - a lot of new reviews are coming out on the web at the moment and we have a few tv reviews going on which I'll keep you all informed about.
One thing that would really help is getting involved in something that was done when Uplink first came out. Get on to the big gaming forums and spread the word. It sounds incredibly simple but if we do it enough people start to take notice and it really does have a direct influence on sales. Also magazines and TV comapnies that host forums will start to notice Darwinia and be prepared to do reviews/ feature articles etc...in fact this is just what has happened with G4 TV.
Now that the online store has just launched this is a very good moment to get the forums talking about Darwinia. Again let us know you're efforts so that we can keep an eye on those forums and help each other with spreading the love...

Ask anyone who attended the trip in Luton the day after the Darwinia Release Party, and they will tell you that I did this to the 4 copies of Darwinia that were there. Infact I decided to push the boat out and moved them to the #1 spot in GAME
I find it fun to do and I do it all the time, if I get the chance. I've not actually had anything go wrong yet
I was wondering, though, if you have any tiny Darwinia banners that can be used for fourm advertising. I'm looking for ones about 60px high, 468px wide for use over at phpBB.com (it will go in my sig and will be in all 1400 of my increasing posts there (and I can tell you that click-throughs from my sig approch about 80 a day)).

I was slightly covert (ok, I was wearing a Darwinia T-Shirt, but thats neither here nore there). All they did was remove them from the #1 spot and put them middle of the next shelf over (which was better than the bottom row that they were occupying previously)
If anyone challenged me that day, I think I would of tried to pass off that I helped make the game (hey, I beta tested a level!), and that I was having wishfull thinking, otherwise if someone stopped me on any other attempt, I would just say that the other ones were there; all I was doing is putting this one back

Ever since Uplink came out, if I was passing an HMV I used to put all the copies on top. Of course they were probably rearranged by outraged staff very quickly but nobody ever directly asked me what I was doing....
Great idea about the banners Neothermic, I'll have a chat with Tom and Chris and see if we can organise something. Sounds like a wonderful bit of free advertising!

Now, you know those little transparent plastic display cases that usually contain games like WOW or whatever. Not in my local game or PC world they don't . WOW always finds itself hidden behind a bright green case - right in front of the door. Much to the annoyance of my WOW loving friends.

Ok..had a chat with the guys here at Introversion... the banner idea is great, fans can use them to grab attention on other forums and, we'd like to use some flash banners on our site and possibly on other sites too.
We're looking for anyone who's a dab hand at flash animation - if you think you could help us we'd love to take a look at your work so send me any samples to my email at vic@introversion.co.uk. And of course if we decide to use it, we'll be offering a financial reward

A darwinian being chased by a viruis, getting killed, and soul starts floating, fade to black, fade to "Save us" (repeat).
Anyways, here's my contribution:
I'll have UBB and HTML code here soon.
This code is to be used on your webpage or blog, just stick it somewhere and watch the hits start to roll in.
Ok, as of now, the UBB code is still in the works. PHPBB code is a bit fnicky, so bear with me and I'll have it working.

Hmm. I think you've done well:

Spot it on the right (also with the huge Darwinia advert (3rd in my blog history)).
