Only... Darwinia has pretty much instant loading times, as there isn't much data to load into memory, it's all procedurally generated, which is much faster.

I can't port it directly because of the evilness of Blitz.
What I CAN do however, is rewrite it in C and then port that to Linux will zero hassle. (Like Sysrq did for Snowdonia).

What about the open source part? That would be cool as well but if you don't want to open 'er up, that'd be okay too I guess.

If he ports it to C++ then you will be able to compile it yourself providing he parts with the source code.
Of course, if he releases the source code then a community of hackers can help to improve upon it.
I'm dying to play it, but not so bad that I want to install Windows.

The way it's being programmed, it TECHNICALLY should be completely portable to Windows, Linux, Windows CE and Macintosh. But that's bearing in mind I'd need to be able to compile it on these systems to compile for them. Unless I do CRAZY EMULATED THINGS. Which I might just do.
