Go to that link... Then click the "apply" button on the left of the screen. You may have to sign in using your forum username and password. Then, under each of the pull down lists, select which of the appropriate model you have in your pc. Then enter your email in the final box. Then click submit.

Is it really that hard?

So the fact the person has been a faithful member of the community since 2002 has no bearing on whether or not the person is selected? :(

Well, yeah. What's the point in selecting a guy who's been 'faithful' if they're not going to give the developers any new insight to how the game handles?

Well, the fact that they have been "faithfully" shows that they are not likely to leak the beta, etc.

And if they are choosen for beta testing, surely they will give insight into how the game handles? Its not like "faithfully" people are gonna go "HA! IM IN THE BETA! IM NOT GONNA DO ANYTHING!" is it?

Chris did say that some of the testers will have some (good) weight with them because they did previous beta testing. It remains to be shown how that works out.

I arrived too late to be in the last beta tests, which is why I was hoping to be in this one. Ahwell, time will tell. Hopefully, noone has a computer as shit as mine, so I'll be able to get in the beta for 'minimum specs' testing :P

Heh, it could be bad! Like, "You tested Uplink... We want this to be completely different. Bug off"

If so,

I wasn't implying that eD. Well, in a way. All I was saying, is that even if you were a previous tester, this would favour you for selection, but if they already had a dozen other people with the same specs as you, they wouldn't chose you as well (although they might chose you over them).

Yeah, thats cool :D

I dont think that they should _just_ choose you if you have beta tested Uplink, or been "faithful" =/ That is a bit wrong. So! Anyone who has the same specs as me, bug off! :D I want in :P

I find it intresting that they are picking on specs, yet they don't ask things that might have problems, such as motherboard type, and even if its a laptop or PC. All my computers that would be powerfull enough to run this are laptops, and I'ld be damned if someone had the same two laptops as me...

Who knows...

That's something I thought about. Surely they would want to know which beta testers are using laptops? It makes a difference either way if they decide to add support for laptop systems or not.

Why take on laptop users if laptops will remain unsupported? If they are supporting them, then they'll obviously need to know who's using laptops and who isn't.

Erm, what difference does it make if it's a laptop?

Performance may be affected, but it's still a PC <unless it's not, heh>.

They're essentially the same except for the plain and simple fact that the internal devices just are not the same. Put simply, all the chips etc have been 'cut down' to lower weight and power consumption. I personally find the biggest factor is a graphics card. At the moment I have an ATI Radeon 320M - designed for a laptop, however it has issues with some of the latest software - e.g. DX 9.0 where it causes the laptop to crash...in a big way while rnning certain games, fortunately I am having no problems with DX8, I just hope some of the big title being released over the next year or so wont require DX9...most don't seem like they will, but I have a feeling Sims 2 will, though <sigh>.

I've got another question: If wsomeone were to be chosen to enter Phase One of Darwinia beta testing, would that person be able to tell people that he or she is a beta tester, or would that get you "kicked out?"
