I hope that I do get picked as a beta tester. Now that I'm out of school, I have absolutely nothing to do. The only reason I go outside is to go to the gym so I don't get out of shape for Mt. Whitney in August. Is that unhealthy?

Have to admit that -shock horror- I'm not signing up. I'm new the community and can't be arsed with fiddling around trying to crash my computer exactly the same way as before. And I ain't that great with computers, either, just enough to use it for games and work.
But I signed up to the forums, cause it sounds/looks like a quality game.

Although I would be grateful to be in either beta tests (hopefully both...yeah right), I would prefer to be in Beta Test 2. I've always liked the idea of testing the actual game rather than the buggy, first-level-only version. However, I realize both tests are crucial to the final game, so again I say I would be grateful if I was picked for either. And if I don't get picked, it's not a big deal. I'll just wait like everybody else.

So I've read on the applications page.

I'm sure IV will not be chosing people based simply on forum activity. They will probably be first looking at the vets from Uplink who've been around a long time, contributed a considerable ammount of time/mods, helped IV out in the past and present, and who are trustworthy.
And I know what ElDiablo is talking about. During the Nakatomi beta test, I made a suggestion to Chris about making the delete mail option need a double click or have a window to pop up asking "Yes or No". This was to help people from deleting important e mails. When the next beta patch came out, low and behold the option had changed. It's just a little thing that I helped make better.
That beta test was a fun time, and I hope to do the same in the coming weeks.

I don't know, I really don't. I'd just cross your fingers and pray. Anyone could be picked in theory. However I suggest to anyone wanting to increase their chances that they send IV evelopes containing large ammounts of small unmarked bills (or would it be pounds for them?) with your name inside. Bribes never hurt anyone

Beta Testing
Hello all!
The kewl part about beta testing is u get an opportunity to help make something work and have fun doing it
. Kinda like helping ur dad work on the project car. Something u would put pride and dedication into and be proud of in the end.
The first experience I had beta testing was MSN (Microsoft Network Online Service) back in 96 with 80 other peps. Within the first year of exsistence the service had 1 million subscribers. Amazing to say the least. I also tested Ultima Online, Wing Comander and a few others for Origin Systems.
It would be kewl to get an opportunity to Beta Test again. (crosses his fingers) now that I have the time and energy once again
Its better to burn out than to fade away!

I disagree. Chris has said how he wants the Darwinia community to be totally different from the Uplink one, and by making Uplink people beta testers would go against this. Just because people have helped with Uplink, doesn't mean that they will be good beta testers...and besides, as elDiablo said there have been 15 max who have helped with Uplink. People should be given an equal chance, this isn't an addon for Uplink, it's a totally new game.
