as its RTS style the most logical answer would be that they are walls, And as they seem to be guarding nothing except the tree, This also could mean that they are important to the game, Perhaps for resource gathering? As an alternative to ore and stuff from cnc games.

Or Walls that prevent progress unless they are disabled in some way. I highly doubt that this game has resource gathering, that doesn't look lile the RTS style of Darwinia.

hmm, i thought about that too at first, but then i noticed that the wall isnt complete so as to create a sort of tunnel effect to block up units or allow a single one through as people used to do in cnc games with harvesters.

Could it be that they are forcing the player to go through the gap because there are viruses there that need killing? All the walls look to do is force you to go a said direction unless you can disable them somehow.

Or maybe, simply the tree is some kind of important structure and the walls are creating a funnel effect to stop any effective enemy attacks coming at once, who knows. Interesting discussion though ;)

A tree being important is a good one. That could explain the signifigance of the buring trees at the beginning of the video.

Even on my connection (768/256), They took time to get here, but no where near as long as 0.5 hours. Thats either 56k or you just got a bad provider...

They took a few minutes on this connection, but I have no idea of the speed.

Where can I test my connection speed?

The total size of those images is ~10mb.

I don't know the exact specs of the server speed but I know it's fast.
