Hardware specs disclaimer.

Postby Gravitron » Sat Jun 19, 2004 9:37 pm

If anyone wish to make their own, feel free to utilize this thread.

Right now my box is weak, I'm aware of it.
Once the new intel serial come out, and memory chip prices lower a bit, I plan on getting a brand new box, P4, 1G+ ram, latest ATI (death 2 nvidia) or so and thus forth.
Hope you can forgive my lame specs for the time being. ;)

Well, if it isn't Grav.

Trolling SS forums too boring for you? Widening your horizons? =p

One thing worth noting here is that they're going to want a wide variety of hardware configs for testing, so having a slow system might be a way to get a beta slot.

Having it tested on lower specs is a neccessity as it allows them to determine what the minimum spec is, so it will make it more available.

Oooh!
I can use my Celeron 433 to betatest!
That's pretty low-end.
But it is still enough that a lot of stuff will run on it at the lowest graphics setting.
Not pretty, but hey, if it runs, that's what counts.
And on a side note, I've now got an AMD Athalon 64 in my main rig.

We could always start with a 486 and then go upwards.
;)

Well, I think superhighend is as important as low-end, but the main reason for betatesting isn't primarily system compatibility, but rather bugtracking (Phase II, that is).

Also, Chris giving the game free to Phase II people is nice, and encourages the testers to submit worthwile bug reports :)

I'll pull my 386 out of deep storage.
By that, I mean it's buried under a load of rubbish...

I rather like playing some games on my 386.
A lot of DOS games were a lot better than most of the games that are out today.
