Dreamworld Map

Postby Major Cooke » Sat Feb 21, 2009 1:19 am

Name: The Dreamworld Island
Classification: King of the Hill
Players: 2 (for now)
Stage: Beta

Description: A hidden project Dr. Sepulveda created for the Darwinians after the Viral Wars was a small-yet-broad island which was covered in many different colored forests. Whenever a Darwinian went into "sleep" mode, they would be code-phased into a ghostly trunkport which would teleport them to this island. Here, all the Darwinians would go and be able to communicate with one another across the globe. It was a heavenly place for those who went there, even the Reds after the Viral Wars. In this area, weapons didn't exist, nor did machinery except for an engineer. It's job was to collect the souls of Darwinians who died in their sleep from this area, and deposit the souls into the trunkport which would teleport the souls to the receiver lines.

Magical Forests were first invented here when the Shaman introduced themselves as the officers of old, indicating that the lives lost to Soul Destroyers in the past may never be refound. However, they believed that forests showering new souls onto the ground was a good way to start, as they did feed on the essences of ghosts. Darwinians brought whatever ghosts they could find from the grounds of shattered souls in hopes they could be pieced back together.

Not even the Virus knew of this location, until the Multiwinians found a secret port on the supercomputer's secondary drive.

Before the events of Wake of Eternity, Multiwinians would often secret themselves onto armors with their new-found knowledge on how to get to Dreamworld, and would behold it's ever-luscious forests... In this Dreamworld, anything was possible for a Multiwinian. You could even see them flying around in the air at times, with little flames shooting out of their feet.

However, when war broke out, every Multiwinian knew that one tribe or another was going to immediately attempt to secure a foothold. In order to counter this, Dr. Sepulveda ordered the Futurewinians to secure this area for themselves and preserve it with the Shaman until after the tribes came to peace. This had proven to be a fruitless attempt, as the Virus had finally discovered the area, and initialized a devastating attack which wiped all life from the area. Dreamworld lost it's marvelous glamor and power it had, and the Virus stripped the area of it's enhanced geometry. The Virus, who had studied the magical forest's ability to create souls from it's branches, reversed it's enactment to have it devour souls instead, turning them pitch black. Luckily, it had not infected the few remaining trees on Dreamworld, however they stopped dropping magical souls due to the Shaman, out of fear they (the souls) would be converted into deadly weapons.

It was not until The Last Stand where the Shaman, after watching the events of the Red and Green tribes working together, decided to unite as one and drive the viral entities out of Dreamworld, which was now second to home of the Virus. They rendered Digital Nature and the Futurewinians to their liking and rid the land, and attempted to destroy the trunkport to the sacred place, but before they could, Multiwinians of all kinds poured through, shooting lasers at each other, the Futurewinians, and the Shaman, obliterating them with whatever they had to fight for control. In the end of the fight, several hours later, there were only two Multiwinian tribes left, and the trunkport was silent...

Who do you play as?

Notes:
Infections aplenty happen here.
Futurewinians have also a high likely to make an appearance here.
Plague is not uncommon, but not as common as the infection.
Manage your spawns well, it's a wide-open country side with a lot of trees around the middle. Gun turrets should be used very wisely. It's hard to place them in a proper spot here.
18 spawn points total. You and the other start out with 3.

3. Save it, start up Multiwinia, and look for it in the King of the Hill section. It should be on top.

Please post balance issues on this thread, I want to try and make it as good as it can be.

No. I just had some other things to do at the moment I put the disconnection message. I've also decided to change the map to King of the Hill 2-player. I'll upload it later today.

Does this map include any neutral based units as starting things (like Futurewinians, Evilinians, etc)?

Nope.

Sorry I haven't gotten around to uploading it yet, but I had to get to my parent's house to watch over my kid sister for the weekend. When I get home, I'll upload it.

Map is available now. See first post. I'm not going to upload it onto megaupload when this is 5x faster.

I'm not sure what's wrong, but doing what you said in the first post causes multiwinia to crash when I try to load the map.

I don't think this map was supposed to work (or tested) on the beta.
If it was, it probably would have been posted in the Future Patch Development forum.

Also, if you are in the beta, didn't you agree to a Non Disclosure Agreement?

I meant the map ITSELF is in beta... I'm not on the beta team at all. Funny you.

About the crash... Odd, I'll look into it.

Edit: Did you include to insert a blank line at the end of the map file?

The beta comment was for elexis.

As for the blank line, I didn't have one.
Tried to add one, and it still crashed.
Adding one at the beginning as well (it looks like it has one) made it crash faster. :P

Could it be a long line that gets wrapped in the code tag and wasn't supposed to?

Try copying the text and creating a new file yourself, and see if it works. If it does, it must be something else.

Fixed. I had word wrap enabled in text editor. =P

Try again now, the forum is word wrapping but it still should work.

Yep, that was it, it works now. It seemed to play more like a DOM map than a KOTH against the AI.
