Server List Firefox extension

Postby MadMorgan » Sat Feb 14, 2009 8:30 pm

Announcing: The Multiwinia Server List - Firefox Extension

The Multiwinia Server List extension for Firefox unobtrusively allows you to monitor game servers without needing to launch the game. A little Multiwinian gets added to the Firefox status bar which changes color to indicate if there are games waiting for more players or already in progress. The full server list can be accessed by simply clicking on the little guy.

My hope is that by being able to passively tell when there are games waiting for more players, some of the loooooong wait times will be alleviated. This has worked really well with the small group of players who have been testing it. Bear in mind, however, someone still has to go first - if there are NO games waiting and you want to play, it is still up to YOU to launch the game and queue up.

For more information, screen shots, and to download go to:

http://philosophyfactory.com/morgan/multiwinia_server_list/

You will need to restart your web browser after the extension is installed.

If you were beta testing a previous version of this (released as "mwLadder"), you should uninstall it first (Tools -> Add-ons) and then install the new "Multiwinia Server List"; there is no need to restart Firefox in between those two actions.

Please enjoy and PLAY MORE MULTIWINIA!

Also, as just mentioned in the Multiwinia Ladder thread, Jelco has kindly linked to the extension from this much easier to remember url:

I've never been much to play real multiplayer matches with other folks... usually it's singleplayer. But maybe with this ap on my desk, I'll give MP a try again.

Although at the time of this writing there are only three games in progress...

It's a wonderful thing. If I want to play a game, all will be alerted. If someone else wants to play, I will be alerted.

It's awesome and I'm pretty sure I've managed to get to play more games because of it.

My depression has since lifted

Is there any chance that you can update the app so it is compatible with firefox 3.5?

There was no reason to create a new topic for a small but valid question.
