As I've mentioned before on the fora and IRC I've been making a new map for multiwinia, specifically a remake of the classic UT map Facing Worlds. I've finally been able to test it works (and actually release it), you can download it from here. Feedback (good or bad) is greatly appreciated. :)

We need a mod forum for when the map editor is released and we are spammed with these topics.

I wouldn't mind hosting untill we get the mod editor/downloader in place.

Very true.

And this time, getting a mod up on the site won't have to go through me

I'll hurry up, now there's actually something to put on there!

Gave the map a test run against the AI, it was fun, but two notes:

1) I felt 10 minutes was too long for such a straightfoward map, I felt 5 minutes as the default might be better.

2) Since the center is on top of a rather steep hill, it becomes very easy to defend with a couple of formations since enemy grenades bounce back. I would flatten the center a bit to make it a bit more challenging

Other that that, good work :)

Hack them together in notepad. At least that's what I used to do :P

Also, I imagine you can use the Darwinia map editor for some stuffs, but I might be completely off here.

I'm pretty sure you could use the darwinia editor to do the general landscape, darwinia buildings (spawns), starting MWGs, etc. You could probably make adding the MW only stuff easier by putting placeholder buildings in the co-ordinates you want the unavailable item, then alter the text file later on. Also, copying info from official levels.

I did try 5 minutes first of all (it being the default) but i found that the initial push was usually the one that won, I wanted to give more time to let the enemy push back. I'll look at the hill problem and try and sort that out.

@mmaestro: there's info on how to add the map in the zip file I've uploaded.

Thanks for the replies :)

Hmm, for the sake of future maps, you might want to change the file names though.

I suggest something like "mp_koth_2p_facing_worlds.txt", or perhaps just "mp_koth_facing_worlds.txt" - and of course the same for the zip.

This is from a purely technical point of view, mind ^^

With regards to this one, just extract everything in it to the Multiwinia folder. The files are organised as need be.

As for future ones that come before the Joyous Devices here, put the text file in /data/levels and the bitmap in /data/thumbnails
