Multiwinia bought through Steam is wrong version

I recently (in the last few days) purchased Multiwinia through Steam. The game downloaded and successfully ran but when I attempted to play a game online against my friend I discovered I have version 1.9.35.0. My friend has version 1.1.0.

I need this version in order to play my friend. All I've done is purchase the game through Steam, but the version it has downloaded is 1.9.35.0 for some reason (I double-checked the version of the exe). Oddly the install folder also contains a changes.txt file which lists all the patch changes up to version 1.1.

It seems Steam is simply supplying me with the wrong version, however I haven't had much luck finding a download for the 1.1 patch and Steam doesn't seem interested in autopatching (perhaps because the my version number is higher?).

Any ideas?
