Hello,
I have the steam version of Multiwinia and since latest patch, each time I try to enter the achievements menu, I get a Windows error message "Failed to load texture Genocide" and the game crashes back to Windows.
On XP SP3 up to date, GeForce 9600GT, 2Gb Ram, Core 2 Duo E6300.

Confirmed. Adding Genocide.bmp to the textures folder does not help, and that's as far as my fixing attempts went; I coudn't find any other achievement textures. So don't press the Acievements menu entry

Confirmed...only happens the first time...works every time after that.
Also...
Hoarder and Dominator icons appear to be different from STEAM.
Hoarder is a big "A" and Dominator is a turret. In STEAM they are statues and spawn respectively.

This is caused by the steam cache file for Multiwinia stuffs not having downloaded the file yet. It's a bit of bad code on my part as I should wait until the steam API signals that the image is ready, but (strangely enough), it never happened while I was testing =/
Sorry about this, it shall be fixed!

I'm not trying to say it's not that, but I mean, the error seems odd to be because, well, here's a similar error from Darwinia;
Code: Select all
ERROR : 'Failed to load texture textures/clouds.bmp'
On that you can see a path and a file extention. Try putting a file called "Genocide" in the data folder, those people whom can check. Anyway, JUST SEEMS ODD TO ME is all!

I'm not sure how much I can say about the Steam API (as I really don't know what's public knowledge, and nor do I have time to check really

), but this is definitely the problem. The error occurs as the texture isn't found in our resource system. And it's not found in the resource system due to the Steam caching of achievement images. It is completely my fault for putting a check in the wrong place, and will be fixed in the next patch.

This still isn't working for me, even after I've opened it more than once. The Genocide texture keeps failing to load..
Code: Select all

Have you tried verifying Multiwinia's GCFs?
(Right click game in games list>Properties>Local Files>Verify Integrity)

Are you running under Vista as a non-administrator account? bert seems to get constant crashes with this under these conditions, even after reinstalling...

Except that I'm on XP, not Vista.
