Can you think of any reason why this might be happening, zulu202? It might be to do with what sort of account you're using on your PC. If you can't think of any reasons, I'd guess you could try installing a copy of the game outside of the program files directory and see if you have any more luck with that.

Did you try the advice here, that is, to try reinstalling the game to a different directory? The concern isn't C: or D:, it's that it's in program files, which is often a somewhat protected directory. I would suggest trying c:\multiwinia\, or even try installing it into your my documents folder, to see if this fixes your issue.

Running Vista? No

This is the problem. From the profile path, he is running vista, but the autopatcher don't detect it and thus don't try to elevate access privileges.

Please download TestAutopatcherOS.exe run it, it will create a 'debug_os.txt' file, please post it's content here.

Also please post a dxdiag

1)'Start' windows button
2)'Run ...' or the search bar in Vista
3)Type 'dxdiag.exe' in the 'Open' textbox and press the 'Ok' button
4)Once the 'dxdiag.exe' dialog is up, click the 'Save All Information ...' button.
5)Choose a destination for the file (ie: your desktop) and a name for the file (ie: 'dxdiag_info.txt')
6)Post the content of the file here.

So, for the next person with the same problem:
You DID run it in compatibility mode, and disabling that fixed it?
