Is there a debug log in the installation directory or your multiwinia profile (accessible via the start menu)? The autopatcher should write one in case of problems.

We need more information.

If you have the Introversion version, goto:
Start Menu>All Programs>Multiwinia>Open Profile.
If you have the Steam version, goto:
<Steam Directory>/SteamApps/common/Multiwinia/

In here should be a autopatch_debug.txt. Copy the text and paste ALL of it in here, using

tags.
Before posting, search the text for "key=" (no quotation marks, obviously). After this should be your game key. Delete it or replace it with x's.

Then, we can help.

How is your computer connected to the internet? (ADSL? Dial Up?)

Do you have a firewall?

Are you behind a proxy?

Do you have a router?

Well, one option you people trying to help might like to now explore is reading comprehension.

Code: Select all

Appdir writable? Yes

The above features in MY autopatch_debug.txt, and odds are all you people who're talking about connectivity issues.

Code: Select all

Appdir writable? No

The above features in zulu202's autopatch_debug.txt.

I'd also like to point out how many files there are in the latest 1.0.6 patch: Language.dat, Multiwinia.exe and version. 3 files. 3 access denieds. Coincidence?

He also mentioned that it downloads the files, a cmd shows up and then fails, which fits the above to points.

Basically the problem seems to be that for some magical unknown reason, the autopatcher can't write/make files in the multiwinia directory in program files. Can you think of any reason why this might be happening, zulu202? It might be to do with what sort of account you're using on your PC. If you can't think of any reasons, I'd guess you could try installing a copy of the game outside of the program files directory and see if you have any more luck with that.

What jelco and goldfish are trying to tell you:
It's not your router or network setup.
The problem is that you are running the autopatcher from a user account that has insufficient rights to write into the game directory.
You need to either make the game directory writable for you, or run the autopatcher with administrator rights.
