Barely Responsive Keyboard and Mouse

I have this problem quite frequently.

I join a multiplayer game. The game runs smoothly, nice frame rates, no lag, everything fine, except it won't pick up mouse clicks (left or right) or the space bar or tab unless I click/hit it about 50 times. The camera follows mouse movement just fine, and the WASD keys move the camera without a hitch as well.

That is lag and/or packet loss. All commands you give require a round trip to the host and back before you see the results, and unfortunately, if they get lost on the way from you to the server, they're lost.

Yup, sounds like packet loss... do you have other activity (downloading, streaming, etc) occuring on your internet connection at the same time? If so, turning that off could help a lot.

It's probably my connection. The apartment I'm living in is brand new, and the internet can be wonky at times. I think it's just one of those weeks.
