OpenGL fullscreen makes screen go mad!

Postby Artman40 » Fri Sep 19, 2008 7:10 pm

This is not happening to Multiwinia only, but to all applications to do with 3D and full screen.

When I open Multiwinia for an example, it causes HEAVY screen flicker and tearing and critical error is displayed.

Which causes exiting the program and the screen going nuts. It happens if default rendering is in OpenGl and fullscreen, but not happening when rendering is in Direct3D. Opening a fullscreen program which renders things into Direct3D fixes the screen again. How to change my computer settings so that it renders things in Direct3D by default?

Nope! It didn't happen until 3 months ago. Maybe because of a computer crash or something.

Really, update video driver, it may repair a corrupted file. May also update directx.

Once drivers updated, care to post a dxdiag?

1)'Start' windows button
2)'Run ...' or the search bar in Vista
3)Type 'dxdiag.exe' in the 'Open' textbox and press the 'Ok' button
4)Once the 'dxdiag.exe' dialog is up, click the 'Save All Information ...' button.
5)Choose a destination for the file (ie: your desktop) and a name for the file (ie: 'dxdiag_info.txt')
6)Post the content of the file here.

As for directx rendering, it's not possible, but you could play windowed,

1) Use the Windows start menu shortcut 'Open Multiwinia Profile'
2) Edit or create a preferences.txt file
3) Edit or put the following line 'ScreenWindowed = 1'

Hey tanks! :)
It's working now! Gotta love how you can edit options from text files!
