Multiwinia New Theme

Postby biyabo » Thu Dec 11, 2008 6:35 am

Hello, I am a new player and already avid fan of Multiwinia. To be honest though, when I first learned of the game from an introductory trailer, I had a drastically different expectation of what the game were to look like (In the game mode trailers), until real gameplay footage came out. I like the strange and interesting look of the real game, but I'd really like if Multiwinia had themes or a mod or something which made the game and the world look greyscale and white bright like it did in those trailers. It had a portal esque charm and the characters fit well into it.

From a technical perspective, the simplicity of the trailer's theme makes it easier to really play the game, and recognize units and buildings and formulate plans.

To any counterarguments saying such a theme would be too simple, I would say that the world obviously wouldn't just be all white with the units and objects. Just that sort of feel is what I'm looking for, with grey grounds and white skies and the colorful multiwinians stick out from the ground.

The problem here is that terrain colour is (I believe) map defined. It probably isn't impossible (try to set your PC date to 25 december to see what I mean), and making a map with white terrain would probably be quite viable (although as far as I know you can't change sky colour. Although if you're like me you won't see the sky 90% of the time so it doesn't really matters.)

This only works with Darwinia - if IV did their job right this doesn't apply to Multiwinia (the clock being set manually that is).
Nope, just checked, manually setting works in MW too. I would've thought they'd use a check with the metaserver, rather than the local clock.
Whoever you vote for, the government wins.

You'd think so, unless it definitely has no bearing or impact on synchronisation.

Local Clock shouldnt have any impact, i.e. what about different time zones etc or does Windows have a built-in UTC.

Plus I was really busy on the 25th and set my clock to the 25th on the 26th, It lets those who miss out in on the fun.
