DEFCON mode

Postby Kaizer » Thu Nov 27, 2008 7:32 am

I realise it's a tad ambitious to suggest a compeltely new game-mode, but i'm just thinking out loudmind you...

relating to introversion's love of making subtle references to their previous games, how about a new game mode: DEFCON mode

players start on the same team, the last one standing wins. each player is 'ejected' from the alliance as everyone starts to get more and mroe distrustful of eachother etc. (much like diplomacy mode from defcon). THe clincher being that everyone starts off with 1-3 nuke strikes.

your thoughts?

Couldn't the Nukes just kill everybody instantly?

It'd be pretty easy to wipe out every MG right off the bat, if each player made a few deft clicks.

Yeah, the start of the game would simply be everyone getting out of the way of the nukes, followed by running back and getting their spawns again.

How about a DEFCON style countdown from DEFCON 5 to DEFCON 1, at which point the three Nukes are received? By then, the MGs will probably have a wide structure set up. Maybe.

The problem inherent in this idea is that in DEFCON nukes were your primary method of attack, whereas in Multiwinia they're one of the most powerful, rare attacks in the game.

Ignore the bit about the nukes - problem solved. Or have just the one each, on a timer (like you can have starting crates).

Map where the enemy team holds three harder and harder to get to power arrays that controls fences that each have a nuke crate in them. The fences they control are near your own base.
