Timed fences

How about laser fences that slowly cycle through colours, or any mix of white/colours/open? These would either be deadly, open or only open to one team, perhaps for a set number of seconds or maybe random durations would be more, er, fun... :twisted:

That could be good but where you could actually use it?

I was thinking they could be part of any new maps (presuming IV might have some up their sleeve at some point?), to make the (at times rather linear) flow of attack more unpredictable.

An obvious use would be in Assault, perhaps having only one opening to the WMD site at any one time. Attackers would either need to focus on one gate site & wait for it to open up, hoping to get through before getting fried, or share troops between the openings & stage a staggered advance.

On all other game types it could just serve to hold troops back temporarily or kill the unwary, which doesn't sound really exciting but that's why I'm not a level designer... I'm sure experienced Darwinia modders would have fun with any new toys in the sandbox!
