Formation Direction

Postby sarabi » Sun Sep 21, 2008 12:37 am

Hai ^^ just another little idea from a hyena loving this game = 3

At present, if you want a formation of darwinians to point in a specific direction you have to first move them, and then move them a tiny bit again, This cna be time consuming and easily forgotten in the midst of battle.

Suggestion - Allow the player to hold down CTRl (or a some other suitable key) when he makes a move order, then after the first click, whiles you still hold down CTRL, you can rotate the cursor around the 'move here' spot to determine which direction they should face.

heres a quick mock up I made to illistrate

1. place as normal

2. holding down ctrl as you click, releasing when happy with the formation direction

Your thoughts? = 3

Well, how about just holding RMB?

Other than that, I like the idea.

Yeah this a good idea. I keep wanting to draw formation directions out like in Medieval 2:TW.

excellent idea! I've been thinking about this as well. And I agree with the idea of holding right mouse button at the destination and then being able to change the direction. :)

Very much agreed! I've been wanting to do this quite a few times.

Yeah, its got my vote too.

I'd also like to propose something a bit more radical that will prolly get me shot down in flaming screams of NoooB!!!

But here goes...

When making a formation I find the third click a PITA - 9 times out of 10 I want the formation right where it is and that third click can end up clicking the flag or effin up in some other way waisting a couple of valuble seconds.

If I want to move them I can just click again and decide where to put them - preferable with the suggestion above to control the direction.

This is a great idea. It would be more user friendly when setting up defensive angles and battalion formations.
