Squad what to do with them?
I hardly ever use a squad and if I do I jst send them in to a fight. I understand the're somewhat more powerfull and you control where they shoot but I don't notice the difference.
Most of the time I don't even have the time to control a squad just takes to much time.
Is there anyone that does use them, and how do you use them effectively?

Squads were a central part of Darwinia. If you've never played Darwinia, i think that's the best way to learn to use squads.
Left click moves them. hold right click to fire lasers towards the cursor. Press left click while holding rt. lclick to throw grenade. Each squaddy can throw one grenade at a time. There are 3 squaddies in a squad so you can throw three grenades in quick succession then you have to wait for the grenade launchers to cooldown.
The critical thing about squads is that you have direct control over them, so they are very useful for specific surgical strikes. However you have to keep in mind that they are no more resistant to damage than a normal darwinian so you don't want them operating independently. A great approach is to send a bunch of Multiwinians towards a target along side your squad. That way the Multiwinians can draw fire while you use the squad to take out your specific target (like a turret or a formation).
The ability to direct grenades manually can be very valuable, but you have to remember that the squaddie is no stronger than a normal Darwinan. Keeping them alive can be tricky, but if you use them in coordination with large groups of DGs they do pretty well. Advanced users might consider certain kinds of hit and run maneuvers.
