For game organising reasons, I was wondering how many Multiwinia players use Xfire.
If you don't know about this wonder of social gaming software, go here > www.xfire.com

It's a fine program and I'm sure many people run it.

However, I stopped using it after spring cleaning of my computer...trying to maximize performance in games and in general, for good or ill.

Is Multiwinia supported in XFire? Meaning, does it allow you to browse Multiwinia servers or join friend's games? If not, I'd rather use Steam.

Don't think so. But neither does Steam.

I know, and that's my point. Why use it? If all you're going to do is chat, use Steam.

Steam overlay > IRC

Uh, no it isn't.

Someone should create an IRC overlay for video games...

Run the game in a window and use an IRC client with an 'always on top' toggle?

Which would be much better than the steam set-up with MW. I'm forever opening the community window because I'm selecting powerups with tab whilst not thinking to release my finger from the shift key...

Since the Steam overlay got implemented I never used Xfire since - it does pretty much the same stuff but better, and I don't play many online multiplayer games that aren't on Steam anyways. But I usually still play games windowed so I can alt-tab to IRC easily, hurrah!

Indeed. And the reason I don't use IRC is becasue, no overlay and I run full-screen. It's pointless to alt+tab every time you heard a new message.

But it just came across my mind that Lithilk meant in general rather than in-game. In that case, IRC is better.

I have Xfire, not sure whether MW is supported, but I think so.
