The Third Kind Mountain Climbing

Postby Feud » Wed Oct 01, 2008 4:46 pm

On a whim I decided to try and march my DGs over the mountains, and I found that it was much more effective than storming the turrets.

Granted, against a human player who can respond to such a move it may not work out as well, but against the AI it worked great. You march right past the turrets, which can't hit you through the mountain.

That's an awesome tip. Did you have to use so many officers, or was that just in case?

There was some pathfinding issues, so I used them as often as I found necessary. There might be some better paths than I found that would require less.

Nice find. Pathfinding makes it a bit awkward though. I'm gonna give this a try.

You can always use ctrl do use direct path, or or control the mws directly.
But yeah, doing that makes an attack on the third kind much easier.

I've done this using lots of drag-selects rather than Officers, as the pathfinding would often mire them in the beaches or make them vault the hill line for no reason and get shot!

Path finding avoids steep ground, so it;s unsurprising it goes wrong when your ON steep ground. :P

Wait, this tactic only got out now?

I'm unsure whether I ever even fought those turrets :P

And yes, ctrl is definetely your friend when pulling this.
