What happened to the way the Squads and Viral units look?
I just recieved my first Squad as a powerup, and I noticed that the shimmering, pixellated effect from Darwinia is gone! Now they just look like grey, blocky 3D models, the way they "really" looked when you'd accidentally view them from too close in Darwinia. Same with the Virii. They now simply look like the textureless models they are underneath all the shimmering. Why is that? I loved that effect in Darwinia! It looked more VR/primitive, and made them easier to see, too. Did the devs suddenly find it to be to taxing for most computers, or something? Then at least they could have added it as an on/off toggle-option.
Or is this a some kind of error with my game alone?
*EDIT* And by the way, the air -distortion/shockwave-y effect from explotions seems to be gone as well...

However Shaders cost. And Multiwinia tends to have WAY more stuff going on that cost is a BIG factor.
In Darwinia, it rarely got even half as crazy so you could afford to spend on shaders and extra hoopla.
I think they wanted to allow Multiwinia to run on more machines than just the top dual or triple sli machines with top notch cards in them etc etc.
