Tips and Tricks

Postby Feud » Sat Sep 20, 2008 2:00 am

An FYI for all of the newer players out there, if you press "c" while your transport is selected it will explode. This explosion will take out any DGs (the stick figure units) around it, and with one or two hits you can also take out turrets.

This "car bomb" is especially helpful during Assault games. In my last game I knocked out well over 100 enemy units with my first one, as they were trying to assault a gun emplacement on a hill.

So how 'bout it guys, what other tips and tricks have you figured out?

Somehow, I like the idea of Feud as a suicide bomber...

Darwinians in formation go... I'd say 2/3rds the speed they do when they are out of formation. If you need to lay waste to your enemies or guard a position, go with formation. If you're swarming/running to a particular spot, it might be better to un-squadron them.

Formations never work out for me. >_>
They can't throw granades and when someone comes at me with a swarm of darwinians, all my formations gets instantly blown to pieces cause they're really bad at avoiding granades. -_-

If they're getting swarmed, right click the officer to let them fight back swarm to swarm, or move the formation a little further to be more effective.
It also helps if you have a stream of MWs flowing towards it to replace the ones that fall in combat.

During assault, the giant grenades are wall-busters. HIt one of the solid walls, and it'll blow it to kingdom-come.

What else..... Oh, yeah.
When storming a turret infested area, personal shields are indispensable. Use them whenever you can in this situation.

Nukes take a while to hit their target. Use them to hit enemy bases.

Meteor storms have surprisingly good aim. Use them, love them.

So that's how NeoThermic was destroying my turrets! I may just have to steal this technique.

I also have found that simply unloading the armour under a turret tends to swamp it sufficiently to steal it.

That tactic is practically the only way to win Assault maps. :P

Keep formations moving while on the attack, they're much less likely to get destroyed by grenades that way.

Feints are always a good way to trick your opponent, send a small force out to capture something mildly important and when your opponent (hopefully) send their force to crush you swoop in for the kill. (Works well with spawn points)

When a formation is marching towards your spawn points to neutralise it (yes, I'm looking at you, Byron!), merely get a small force (20-40 Multiwinians), and split them into 2 group. Send one group round each side of the formation, and then run up behind them. Keep them running until they are mixed in with the formation. If the attacker has any sense, the formation will either turn (giving you a chance to get your troops from the spawn point to attack) or break up the formation (which pretty much neutralises the threat, and gives you time to get reinforcements from the spawn point. If they don't do either, and the formation keeps walking, you should easily take them out with grenades and lasers. Easy.

Armor, armor, armor. Armor. Armor.

Use it.

More tricks:

Don't ever run right at a turret. If your guys run right at it, they tend to form a line. The bullets don't stop when they hit one of them, so they just go right down the line, getting huge numbers of kills. Zig-Zag, or try to use hills as cover as you approach the turret.

When approaching a turret, split your men up. Always. If you mob everyone in one group, the turrets rip them to shreds. If you split them up, by the time the turrets finish ripping one group to shreds, the second group has arrived.

turrets on top of steep hills are easy; just charge up the hill at the turret. The angle won't let it shoot your guys once they reach the hill.

Armor can go through the "neutral" walls. I mean by that the walls that are not glowy and stuff.

Hot Feet can set trees on fire, I believe.

Since they just opened the strategy forum, perhaps NeoThermic should move this thread...
