Postby stindows » Tue Dec 04, 2018 11:00 am

anybody using dell 3520 computer workstations for SolidWorks?

If yes...is it able to handle assemblies up to 1000 parts?

would you recommend this computer workstation?

Well it is listed on the SolidWorks website as certified as long as you buy the model with the Nvidia Quadro M620 graphics card. I would recommend going with 16GB of ram (does not add that much cost). I would not anticipate any problems with a 1000 component assembly. Hopefully you plan to use it with an external monitor. The 15.6 display it comes with is small in my opinion.

My budget wont permit a 7520 so would settle for 3520 version.

I hope the build quality is good...because even though its entry level mobile workstation, here in India it is still costly.

Regarding external monitor i would decide when i start using the laptop for work.

If you will use your workstation in office for stationary then it is better to go to the desktop workstation rather than mobile workstation because the performance of a mobile workstation is 40% less compared to the desktop workstation also it has the ability to be upgrade. But if your always in the move then the mobile workstation is a reasonable.

because i would mostly be working at client locations so that is why i would be needing a mobile workstation.

yes i know we cannot expect the same performance from a mobile work station.

Saw some reviews of 3520 and it seems the keyboard is quite flexible.which is not a good thing.

flexible Hmm i don't think so they are flexible if they are remove to the laptop but if they are much rigid unless your using so much force to press the keyboard i think that review came from a gaming site. Try to inquire for Lenovo thinkpad P50 or HP Zbook 17. or try to search on ebay or amazon.
