Graphene technology

Postby presserffg » Sat Nov 10, 2018 11:06 am

It’s no wonder that graphene is overrated in the world of technology. It is simply the strongest, lightest and finest material known today. In addition, it is transparent, elastic and has electrical and optical properties. Companies and scientists are betting on the chemical compound as the revolution in the electronics industry, designing a new generation of components and devices. The fact that it is a relatively new discovery has not stopped the first commercial products from being released.

The design creates the graphene coin, if you do not know this amazing material we will explain. Graphene is a material composed of carbon atoms that, being simply the thinnest and most conductive in the world, is regarded as the future of technology. These graphite layers are very resistant if we take into account their thickness, being 200 times stronger than steel, thinner than a hair, flexible and practically transparent.

When isolated and used correctly, graphene gains incredible possibilities of use and is therefore seen as the solution to many problems in the technology area: from substituting rare and scarce materials to lowering costs for the consumer.

The compound was discovered in 1947 by physicist Philip Russel Wallace, the first to study theoretically about the material. But it was only in 1962 that it came true, through chemists Ulrich Hofmann and Hanns-Peter Boehm. It was Boehm, even, who baptized him, from the junction of the words graphite and the suffix -eno.

Finally, in 2004, graphene came into the world, thanks to physicists Andre Geim and Konstantin Novoselov, who decided to test their potential as a transistor. Until that time, it was impossible to get a sample of the material for more effective studies without isolating it in the right way. Scholars have done this, incredibly, by using tape and graphite.

Companies and scientists are betting on the chemical compound as the revolution in the electronics industry, designing a new generation of components and devices. The fact that it is a relatively new discovery has not stopped the first commercial products from being released.

One of these derivative products being developed from the material is a new type of transmission cable. Scientists have harnessed the full potential of electrons and boosted the speed of data exchange hundreds of times more than they currently exist. Such technology would

a much faster internet than the one we know.

Researchers have also developed a graphene antenna, with which it is possible to transmit, at a distance of one meter, 128 GB (or 1 terabit) per second. To give you an idea, there are approximately 32,000 4 Mb songs at 128 GB. It is believed that, at a shorter distance, scientists can transmit a hundred times more information in the same amount of time.

The properties of the material are also being used to create batteries. One of them was accidentally discovered by a student at the University of California. The boy put a liquid layer of graphite oxide on a CD, inserted it into a DVD player with LightScribe (direct printing technology on a CD or DVD) and used the system to "suck" the graphite. In just two seconds of loading, the bathed disk was able to charge an LED for five minutes. There are also flexible battery versions and

ultra-fast in development, which go against the launch of foldable gadgets, as several manufacturers have suggested, such as Samsung.

Existem ainda novas pesquisas com nanochips, fones de ouvidos, carros elétricos, filtragem de água salgada, painéis solares, turbinas eólicas, telas touchscreen e dispositivos biônicos, todos derivados do grafeno.

Graphene is today considered the revolutionary material of the future by many specialists. It consists of carbon, an extremely thin layer of graphite and has the thickness of an atom, to give you an idea, it is a million times thinner than a human hair. This material has extraordinary properties, in practice graphene is the strongest, most waterproof, lightest and thinnest material in existence, as well as being a great conductor of electricity to get an idea of your potential, graphene is 100 times more efficient as an electric conductor compared to silicon and stronger than diamond.
