how is it that some maps are more preffered than others? What makes these maps so fun to play?

For me, it's usually balance coupled with there being more than one valid approach.

Or indeed multiple completely different strategies, for example it's all very well on a CTS map to have several routes to capture the statues, it's even better if the map makes playing it as an early domination game possible

I made a couple of maps that are playable in Domination, King of the Hill, and only one of them is available in CTS. Anyway, if you wanna check 'em out, you can get them here:
