Casual vs. Harcore

Multiwinia is a strategy game. duh. I have NOT seen, however, a casual strategy war game besides Multiwinia (be sure to correct me on this one). I dont see why multiwinia cant be a complex game. Theres no more than 500 players, all of which are dedicated to the game, and play it almost everyday. I think multiwinia being transformed into a hardcore game would add more fun to it. The complexity will be understood by all the diehard multiwinia fans, and if there are any more multiwinia downloads, they must have heard SOMEthing good about the game, and im sure they will attempt to learn the new mechanics. Multiwinia's simplistic gameplay is worth a dedicated website. Why not add more strategy to the title!?!?

I KNOW nothing is going to be done to the game, thats CLEAR, but what IF....

Im obviously for multiwinia being hardcore.

I personally think there's enough strategy. There are plenty of things that require your attention in MW. And the sudden havocs that can suddenly appear require plenty of strategy.

The problem is not lack of strategy, it's lack of balance. "Basic" or no crates make the game a lot more hardcore while also drastically reducing strategic dept.

That said, I would like to see a more "hardcore" version of MW, but I doubt the games, as is, could be adapted into one without losing a lot of what makes it fun.

Honestly, I'd rather see a more casual Multiwinia. Trying to win a match just pisses me off most of the time.

Multiwinia, as is, is the best strategy game I could ever have hoped for.

Like chess, or even Checkers, there isn't a lot of variety in the units, but the important thing is how you use them.

Multiwinia is perhaps unique in the world of Real-time strategy games in that it doesn't need a resource to be harvested, a plethora of units (with their special abilities), and a base to be built. This means the player is focusing on how to move his or her troops effectively to win combat. You don't win by having the most harvesters- you win by taking the high ground, catching an enemy without his spawn point protected, and having the sense not to put a turret somewhere that can be snatched easily by the enemy you intend to use it against.

When Shogun: Total war came out, it was advertised that one could be successful if one understood Sun-Tzu's art of war. I'm thinking Multiwinia is a better game to implement the lessons there.

I wouldn't want Multiwinia to be 'more complex' because then it makes it more like a run-of-the-mill RTS. Multiwinia stands out because it is lite but with a ton of strategic depth.

The only way it could be made better is if the map editor was finally released. Then there wouldn't be the inevitable 'favorite strategy' of given maps.

I think the only things that should be done to make Multiwinia more "complex" would be to (as one person here said) release that map editor, and in addition maybe release some small map packs every once in a while. I mean, who knows, maybe Introversion could release an add-on for the map editor that generates a random map similar to the procedural city generator that they're currently using for the Subversion project.

Aside from maps, this game could also stand to have a few new game modes added and obviously, new crate power-ups. And, what would you say to maybe adding an extra option for officers, like different types of formations? And I don't think any of these ideas would make Multiwinia any more complicated than it is, it would just add some new features and gameplay options.

Other than that, I don't think Multiwinia should be made into a "hardcore" strategy as it is already strategic enough.
