I know somewhere someone referred to the ingame 'strikers' as space invader type things, but I think not.
Defcon inspired by 'Wargames'.
1980's, good times, good times.
Any more?

The aircrafts that bring in the bombs are space invaders. If you time it right, and end the game with a strike incoming, you can get a good look at them.

The best pic I could find was on one of the T-shirts. I assume it's pretty accurate.

I don't think there's enough room to post them all.
In the scrolling text in the DEFCON menu, it asks you "how about a nice game of chess?"
And Uplink references just about everything, including Darwinia.

In Darwinia, the unit name for the airstrike entities is "spaceinvader".
Engineers are the tron reference.

News Flash: Developers Introversion in shock revelation. Secret self-referentiation in their software belies secret time-travelling technology.
I think what you mean, is that Darwinia references Darwin Research Associates in Uplink?

As Cooper42 points out, it's the other way around (Darwinia references Uplink). There's no way that Uplink, a game made around 2001 can reference darwinia, a game started in 2002. Ye can'ne change the laws of physics!

They're explicitly called "Invaders" in Darwinia.

So IV got it wrong, because they look nothing like space invaders, and I'Ve got it right. Hmmmmmm
*Me runs from flaming torches and pitchforks "nyuk nyuk nyuk woobwoobwoobwooobwoobwoob"*
Maybe I'm too old, and remember this stuff too well.

There's that, or maybe IV are too averse to copyright infringement
