I had to use an obnoxious title. My 3d Spacemouse from Introversion is finally here. It's ever better than I thought it would be. The thing feels great, and it definatly beats using WASD.

Just tilt your head to the right. Blame my roommate for shooting sideways.

The mouse has a very slick design, and is very easy to manuever with.

You can't really see it, but there are two buttons on the side of the mouse. They should definatly be used for the TAB buttons and the space bar for deselcting. Right now, they don't do anything, but I'm sure this is an easy patch for Introversion. Heck, I could probably figure out how to do it myself.

In short, I'm glad Introversion decided to support such a great piece of hardware. Thanks Introversion! I'm never going back to keyboard Multiwinia.

Oh yeah, and the Squads are just as easy to use as well. That was the one thing I was worried about, but it works fine. It's easy to position your view just the way you want it.

What about shift? Do you have to go about slowly all the time or what?

You can modify the sensitivity of the mouse during a match. The fastest sensitivity sent the camera flying with the bearest flick to the thing.

It's great to hear that it works well! I was a little skeptical.

On-the-fly speed controls? Wouldn't that give people a bit of an "edge"?

Isn't that the point of spiffy new input devices?

Humm, how are the controls mapped in MW, if that question is allowed? Seems to me that together with your regular mouse, you have three degrees of freedom to many.

translations of the mouse replace WASDQE. Tilting the mouse forward and backwards help you look up and down. Spinning the mouse causeing you to turn left and right. Rolling, which is tilting to the left and right, doesn't do anything.

So does it have buttons? Do you play Multiwinia with it one-handed?

Introversion is working on a hotfix for some of the mouse binding issues, that will allow us to change the handling and mouse inputs for the hardware configurations. We'll let you know more about this when we test it out...

And I'm still waiting on mine...

If you look closely at the first picture, you can see that I'm still selecting with the standard mouse with my right hand. However, I bet that if you mapped the 3d spacenavigator's mouse buttons to left and right click, you could play with just the keyboard and spacenavigator.

Also, if you look closely, the installation guide is behind the computer, and my space exploration tool is hanging up beside me.

I just got mine yesterday, and... god, It is AMAZING... No more WASDQE keys for meeeeee! Though the terminate and number keys I still have to push manually. :P
