Undescribable!

Half an hour ago I put my two cents in for the Save Multiwinia campaign and recommended a couple of classmates to play multiwinia. I found it incredibly hard to describe multiwinia to them, as they were from cambodia so their english wasnt 100% and they had only really played mainstream games. They had no idea what an indie game was. I tried to describe it as a sort of multiplayer action-stratergy and some how they came to the conclustion that it was a turn based game. :?

So how would you guys describe multiwinia to people? In a way that's accurate and will make them want to play it.

How the hell did they come to the conclusion that it was turn-based?

Just get them to play the demo.

Pinky may have produced a sale from someone who never buys games ever. Or music. Or just about anything.

As I said they don't play too many games. And the conversation developed from talking about our general dislike for making graphics for games.(we prefer the physics and ai)

I've gave up describing the game. I just saw "you just have to try it."

but eh...only 1 out of the 10 or so people I've talked to have bought it.

But... how many of those 10 actually tried it?

excluding the guy who bought it-two, because I forced them to (peer pressure DOES work), and two others because I knew they were fan of RTS games and it's a small download.

But this was before the Multiplayer demo came out. Might have another go at pimping this game to those people, and more. It's a good thing because all of them had no clue how to play the game. And like most people they couldn't be bothered to try the tutorial..

1. Take laptop to computer lab.
2. Plug into large screen.
3. Play!
4. Don't forget mouse and power cable :P

I now have more people to play MW against!

It's a problem I've found with Introversion's games - I can't describe them sufficiently. If I do manage to explain it to someone, I'll have failed to explain why it's awesome. Really, the best way is to take a a stack of CDs with you, with the demo on them and tell them to play it.

It's a little bit multiplayer cannon fodder, with some elements of worms. And some elements of strategy...

Which, I think, is why I like IV games so much...

I play Multiwinia during school via USB when I get the chance and most people complain about the graphics and that it isn't an rpg or a shooter..With the exception for a couple (even though they still bash on the graphics).

to make MW portable for USB just copy and paste the whole Multiwinia folder and use the -noprofile switch (frenchfrong was the one who told me this) and it'll save the profile to the Multiwinia directory instead of local settings...so you don't have to change the settings everytime you get on a new computer, etc.
