no
please do not make flashwinia
it would make people take the real thing less seriously
plus, how would that even work?
just make something original, i know i like original games more than flash based knock-offs

Next time you want to adopt a game idea, why not make it then present it, rather than just suggesting it? You could impress everyone, and afterwards you can make something cool and original like a Flash version of Portal - wait, hang on...

My honest opinion? Unless you can make a 2D client that takes genuine keys, runs via a server-side app to join existing games & has all existing features (i.e. a top-down view with contour lines, everything working exactly as we know & love), don't rip off a look & feel, or a name, or anything.

In other words, just don't.

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to think that the "flat" world of DW/MW would suit a 2D incarnation, and I'm glad that the verdict has mostly been "leave it alone". DW/MW are not 2D games, and derivatives would probably never work in 2D.

If only you were a Shockwave developer...

I will consider all your thoughts. I never said it would be 2D , i could use isometric 3D to give the illusion.

I would!

Although only if it has photo-realistic soul destroying action.

And Six-Axis flight control!

That's what I call the franchise post-Sonic Adventure.

Post-what? I know of no game called Sonic Adventure. Such a game would likely be a rape of every good memory I have about Sonic the Hedgehog, thus it could not possibly exist.

...

IT CAN'T EXIST!

Hey, I just finished Sonic Rush Adventure and it is pretty awesome! Although I suppose the handheld games have always stayed seperate from the horrible wrongness that is modern Sonic games.

No I'm not trying to derail this thread.

I said that myself on a different forum maybe a week ago.

Now I say this: "I was once a fool....To think I could not see beyond the veil of reality......I know the truth now. You to will come to know fear as I have."

I remember a 2Dwinia posted close to the launch date...It was a javascript screensaver, and was actually pretty cool.
A game, though, might not work so well. Unless you can really think of an innovative idea within *winia's world, and make it work. It wouldn't be easy, though.

Also, as has been said, if you're thinking about doing this, get a prototype working, and only then get people's opinions.
