Soundtracks while playing?

Postby Kuth » Tue Sep 23, 2008 5:54 am

There was a similiar list like this made... either before or just after DEFCON was released.

While playing the game, are there any kind of playlists you have running in the background? What songs to you listen to while you play?

To get into the game I usually have a few electronic/rock songs playing... mostly from the ilk of Orgy, Assemblage 23, and Imperative Reaction.

So... what do you guys listen to?

The screams.
<.<

Of all the DGs I'm slaughtering. What else would anyone listen to?

In all seriousness, it's usually Red Alert 2 music, E Nomine, Queensryche, or occasionally Blue October.

Honestly, the cries of battle make a great soundtrack. If I had to listen to music with it, I would go with something by Lars Erik Fjonse (The artist for Lit Fuse Films).

Just the sound effects here. Whenever I try to have music in the background, it usually doesn't fit wth the game, and distracts me from the events in the game.

C&C soundtrack, Vector goes well with the game.

I have a gaming playlist on my iTunes that I usually play in fast-paced intense games like FPS's and such. I have some tracks with good beat and some intense tracks and some other things thrown in. Works really well, I actually do better playing games with it on. I'm starting to use it for Multiwinia too.

Right now it has:

Rage Against the Machine
Radiohead (I LOVE RADIOHEAD)
Audioslave
Muse
Led Zeppelin
Weezer
U2
Pearl Jam
Bloc Party
Coldplay
Foo Fighters
Fuel
The Killers
Wolfmother
The Strokes
Queens of the Stone Age
Smashing Pumpkins

and some other stuff.

I haven't yet played Multiwinia with the Darwinia soundtrack, but I think I will have to try it.

Who needs music when you have wierd sounds?

The sound effects make up for the no music in the background.

If you try it with the amBX kit it really gets scary.

My opinion not Introversions.

Yeah, I think it works great with no music too. However, the Darwinia soundtrack is still completely awesome.

Meh, maybe have some ascetic progressional music. When your about to be eliminated play some of that shock and awe music form darwinia ( i think the one when their being turned by the virus). Or when you win get a good old visitors from dreams.

Such as when your rocket is launching it plays some ambiance. I find when the whole thing freezes and your rocket just stops while the music cuts out kinda dis pointing, but makes a nice transition to the end of the game.

Will also have to try that, seems like a cool idea. :)

Wow, it's cool to see there are also people who listen to industrial/synthpop on the IV forums :)
I haven't played with music yet, but I'll try it next time.

I think some bitpop music from the 8bitpeoples label will fit well
http://www.8bitpeoples.com/ for free downloads.
And stuff from artists like Kraftwerk and Covox.

Personally, I find Silence to be golden in the case of Multiwinia.

Great ambience music, fitting mood, and not at all distracting.
