The editor is coming although I can't give you a date. Hopefully it won't be too long.
We appreciate that you all want to make new maps to play on, and while you are certainly free to do so, I would urge you not to spend a lot of time on them; the final system for the mods is still being considered and it's possible that anything you do now simply won't be compatible with what we come up with, essentially meaning you will have wasted your time.

Maybe if there are enough mappers whenever they release the map editor, they can do a batch of 'good' maps weekly / monthly to add to the game in a patch instead of DLing directly from the host. Its easier that way at least on connecting to games.

yes but if someone made a map that wasn't in the local game where would it get it? answer if it could dl from the host it'd be ok, if not that person couldn't connect.
