It could ask the metaserver what the real date is.

Yeah, good thing they didn't touch the code for Darwinians or in fact most of the code for the game.

I've tested to see if Christmas works.
But it was in the beta so I can't tell you. :P

The only problem with the Christmaswinians is that the snowy landscape makes the selection swirl doofer a bit hard to see.

Xocrates: where in the hell does MW save the screenshots? The manual says the MW directory but I've checked there and the shots I took are missing.

In the start menu folder, there should be one shortcut called "open Multiwinia Profile" that will open a folder containing Multiwinia's settings as well as the screenshot folder.
