Is there actually a way for people to buy a spot on some of the statues?
I can see it now... Politicians' faces on there as part of a campaign...

I think it is just a little jab at our over commercialized economy and the increasing number of "sponsors" in high budget games. IV didn't sell out, and they are making fun of those who did.

Imagine clicking it would minimize Multiwinia and send you to the ad's site. Get several of those statues, place them at spots your opponent comes to, laugh as you mess them up.

And, of course, there could be the ``I'm Lovin' It!™'' Achievement, when you bring the Golden Arches™ statue to your base.

Possibly NDA breaking? Ish? (Just my thoughts upon first seeing "Your ad here", which happened to be during the beta - nothing else).
I remember when CTS first came out during the beta, I didn't get to play it... but I got to see the screenshots of all the statues. At first I thought they were user made (This community has me convinced that anything strange is just photoshoped), the "Your Ad here" and the companion cube were the most convincing, but I was pleased to discover that IV had made them. I have always loved IV since I first played Darwinia and Uplink (hooray for steam!), but this game (and the blog posts leading up to its release) have made them my favorite game developer (a title which Valve has held for -many- years now)
Though, I still would like to see some user-made statues. I would make a statue to the Orange Soda gods (Kirkland, Slice, and Sunkist).

That's actually quite a point! I'd vote for that, since it would bring something new to capture the statue! This is one of the better ideas.

if possible i'll make a mod for CTS for a massive tabasco sauceⓇ bottle statue and if you manage to capture three you'll have a special power of tabasco shower ALA meteor shower, apart from all of your MW will get that burning sensation while running around like a headless chicken (And its not
Crabs) and you'll unable to control them for X amount of times.
