Hi guys and hi Introversion (<- <3)
i pre-ordered Multiwinia via Steam. played it for my 1st time yesterday. i joined of course at 1st few games and there were no in-game problems as lags, crashes, freezes...
after a few online games games (and the 2 tutorials of course) i hosted an online game.
everything ran fine!! no lags for me and no lags for others.
we played very well a 4 player Domination. so i hosted a next online game. same map and same settings.
i never get any lags but imo after my 1st successful online game which i hosted i cannot host any other prefect games anymore. all the players get lags and are going to leave my hosted game. that is very incredible.
if i join an any game there are no problems still.
i also forwarded my ports on my router: 4000 & 4001 in TCP & UDP of course.
should i change these ports in my Multiwinia options menu? 4000 -> 4001 & 4001 -> 4000 ?!
also i noticed, yesterday there was the auto-updater 'button' in the main Multiwinia menu.
today it isnt!! i thought it was a bug and that is why i wasnt able to host nice games without any lags for my mates.
it isnt working tho.
of course i clicked on the Auto-updated button yesterday but it immediately closed Multiwinia...
and as i wrote, i never get any lags ingame if i host, but they do.
i really need your help how to configure this all that i am able to host un-laggy games for all the players.
if you ask me:
'do you really know how to forward ports' or something like this...
yes! i do!
thank you in advance.

EDIT:
i left Multiwinia to write this thread. it froze! i cannot close Multiwinia via Task-Manager anyway.
i am running Vista Home Premium.
i think all the players which joins my hosted games haven't forwarded any ports!
that is why they get huge lags ingame. a 1 V 1 game works everytime if they only play successfully 1 V 1 games.
but if they join a 3 or 4 player game they got lags... anyone hasn't forwarded ports.
i usually host online games but this problem is very new to me:
- i do not get any lags
- they do
Critical Question about Lags ?!

i am not sure if lags has nothing to do with ports...
the most days of a week (if i have got time) i am helping people to get C&C: Red Alert online running with the 3.03 patch since 2005. if they do not forward any ports ( Red Alert needs at least 8 - 10+ ports ) the game will start but you cannot move anything. if they forwarded a few ports, game starts you are able to move your units but everyone will get lags every ~20 seconds there. if all ports are forwarded no lags for anyone. a 1 V 1 game works mostly because the connection is different if a hosted 3+ player game starts. that is my opinion!
mates have converted the IPX/SPX conenction to TCP/IP, so the old connections are not running in Red Alert!
and of course, you only need to forward ports if you are behind a router.
(do not take the DMZ - take the NAT option)
as i wrote above, i dont know if you got it because i edited my post:

this only happens in Multiwinia, is very new to me this issue!

Also, not meaning to spark a heated debate or anything, but chances are very high people quitted for other reasons (ragequitting being the first to spring to mind) but said that lag was the problem as an excuse for leaving.
