LAN Party - Multiple Keys Required?

Postby mmaestro » Fri Sep 19, 2008 11:04 pm

My friends and I occasionally get together for a LAN party, I was hoping to bring Multiwinia along for the next one. The chances of them all buying a copy are zero. Can I get them all set up to play? Do I need to give them all my key so we can all play the game together, or can they do so from the demo version? Or (horror of horrors) would they need to each buy a copy? I'm sure a few would if they had a chance to play the game, but beforehand? Nah.

You would need a copy each. No duplicated keys allowed and Demo doesn't have multiplayer.

Well, that kind of sucks. Epic allowed you to use the same key across a LAN (try to do it online, and it's a different story of course), and probably sold a good few copies of UT to my friends because they'd played at a party. C'est la vie, I guess.

Yeah, its a shame that a single key cant host a LAN game. I was hoping to do that too.

I think it makes good business sense to introduce your friends to it and get them hooked so that they buy the game.

What would be good is if demo mode games (i.e. keyless) could only connect to a local game for multiplayer games.
