Volume Control

Postby Joshonovich » Fri Sep 19, 2008 7:17 pm

Hey

Just started playing multiwinia and noticed that i can't seem to find an ingame volume control. Please tell me there is one, as it seems bloody ridiculous to neglect such a simple thing.

There isn't one.

And indeed, I don't even see why it was supposed to be one.

Just seems like an obvious thing to have. Being a regular ventrilo user i find the balancing act of volume to be rather difficult, and simply not having one in a game just defies sense.

It only defies sense if you assume everyone is a ventrilo user.

Look i'm not up for an argument with some serious introversion fan boys here. I can't think of any other game of the last 10 years to not have such a simple, basic feature. Not only does this conflict with programs like ventrilo, but also music.

I think most games use it to allow you to choose the volume of the different parts: voice, music, and effects.
I don't think I've seen a game where you just have one slider. Although, I'll admit, if you use voice chat, it makes sense to have.

Also, this particular someone is part of the they you are speaking of. :P

Actually, I was trying to be polite and justify why there isn't one.

Indeed, despite most games (but not all, as you seem to imply) having one, I seriously doubt the vast majority of people ever uses them. Most people don't multitask when playing.

Indeed it is. Change the "SoundMasterVolume =" to any number between 0 and 255, 255 being full volume. Not great, bit hacky, but it's better than nothing.

I take offence! :D

Windows Vista lets you manage volumes on a per-program basis anyway.

oh thank god a solution to the volume, upgrade to vista ;)

I've been having this issue as well, I turned down the volume and upped the volume in vent, but this is abit of a pain.

it does feel that this game was made with xbox Live in mind really. I love the gameplay, but the interface to get to a game, wait in a lobby etc all feels very clucky for a PC game. It really seems that it wants you to have a Live headset and control pad.

You can always alter the volume on your music instead?

Still, it's a nice to have... which you could politely mention in the Future forum where it belongs, rather than barracking people about it here.
